Experiencing Technical Difficulties. . .

Troubleshooting Help for your Internet Connection

This page is designed to help you with problems connecting to the Internet and/or this site. If you are having technical difficulties which are not outlined on this page or have suggestions for improving our service, this site and/or this Web page please notify the System Operator NOW.

The system does not answer when I call.

Bad News! That means the system is DOWN... Normally this will not happen under ANY circumstances except under SEVERE catastrophe.

If you do not get an answer from our system after several tries over a fifteen minute period please notify us by calling our 24-hour technical support hotline. The problem will be looked into and resolved right away.

I get a busy signal when I call.

A busy signal means exactly that. The system has other callers online and the dialup capacity has been reached. We will try our best to avoid busy signals by keeping our user to modem ratio as low as possible, preferably under an 8 to 1 ratio. We require your help however. Please try not to park online when you are not actually using the system. It is best to avoid calling during the peak hours of 4 P.M. to 10 P.M. if possible. Not only will our system be busier at this time but also the entire Internet slows down because of heavy traffic. You will notice a marked speed improvement if you call late at night or in the early morning hours. By calling at off-peak hours you will also enable us to keep our ratios low and provide you with better service and lower rates. Customers taking advantage of our free access will enable us to continue providing long connection times by calling at off-peak hours. Free access usage times WILL be shortened on those lines if busy signals become a problem. At this time we WILL allow all free access users to request additional online time on a per request basis. You can reserve up to 4 hours per day additional time online simply by sending a note to the System Operator NOW. Please allow 24 hours advance notice for processing. Phone requests will be denied and will REDUCE your online time by at least 30 minutes that day. Emergency phone requests will be processed immediately if and only if there is a verifiable emergency. A time bank will be online in the near future for your convenience. Online games with extra online time for prizes will also be coming soon.

The system cut off my session without warning!

That means either your data connection was interrupted by static, or you were disconnected for going over your time limit. Try calling back to see if you have time left to use. Keep track of your time online to avoid being disconnected without first logging off. If you are consistently going over your time limit you need to upgrade your access level. PPP users have unlimited access. If you were cut off when using PPP, it was because of static or inactivity. Users will be disconnected after 20 minutes of inactivity.

I logged on using Wildcat Navigator, but I can't access any Web sites.

If you are using Windows 98 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x or greater, you may experience problems accessing Web sites with Wildcat Navigator. For a detailed explanation on how to solve these problems go to the Virtual Winsock page.

I get errors trying to connect to some Web sites.

Some Web sites are not always reachable. They may be offline when you try them. Their Web server may be overloaded. Their Internet connection may have been lost. This is their problem, not yours or ours. We have no control over which sites are reachable online. We do not employ filtering. If you cannot reach ANY Web sites besides our own, please contact us IMMEDIATELY. We will look into the problem and call you back with a diagnosis and resolution.

My e-mail gets bounced back with a message saying the host is unreachable.

Make sure you have addressed your e-mail properly. In addition, please be aware that some large sites such as AOL, JUNO, and MSN employ spam filtering. If you forward a message from your account to a user on one of these sites it may be bounced. Users on these sites should be mailed directly and forwarding should NOT be used. If you do not like this policy please make your objections known to the postmaster for these domains (i.e., [email protected]). It does not usually help to make repeated attempts to send undeliverable mail until the problem is resolved.
